The Magic of Place – Mixed Media Collage in Lentas, Crete

Using the artistic medium of mixed media collage, we approach the place where we spend a creative time together:

Lentas is a small, quiet village on the south coast of Crete, set between the sea, rocky hills, and wide open sky. The atmosphere is clear and spacious, full of subtle shapes and color nuances that reveal themselves only through slow and attentive looking. It is a place that does not demand attention, but gradually unfolds.

The landscape, the proximity to the sea, and traces of past cultures — which we will explore in particular during a day trip to historically significant sites — become a rich source of impressions. We collect these impressions, transform them, and finally bring them onto paper in abstract form.

We observe and capture moments and details — lines, colors, shadows, and forms — that catch our eye and stimulate our imagination. Through photography, drawing, small color studies, frottage, monoprint, and paper cutting, a diverse pool of materials is created from which we develop our collages.

Through layering, overlaying, and combining found, self-made, or brought-along papers, individual works emerge that reflect our experience of Crete in an abstract and personal way.

The course includes at least five hours of guided studio time each day.

Afterwards, the studio remains open — participants are welcome to continue working independently.

All art materials required for the course are included in the course fee.

The course is open to beginners as well as experienced participants.

The number of spaces is limited.

Fees and Cost:

€1,585 – €1,795 (depending on apartment type), including:

• course fee

• all art materials

• accommodation at Seminar Center Iremia

• 6 breakfasts and 2 dinners

• 1 group excursion

No other meals are included. All apartments have a kitchenette, and shops and tavernas are within easy walking distance. The number of accommodations on site is limited.

A deposit of €300 is required upon registration to secure your place.

If the course does not take place, the deposit will be refunded.

The remaining balance is due by June 1, 2026.

For participants with accommodation outside the seminar center:

€980 course fee only, including materials and one group day excursion.
