When I saw the collages that James Rosenquist did in the 1960s in an exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum I felt a spark and I knew that that was something I wanted to do. I was an abstract painter working predominately with egg tempera and I believed painting would be what I would continue doing until collage found me.
